Brands - Lulus - Perfect Party Dress
I am a HUGE fan of the user reviews and images on Lulu’s and other sites. We need to see how a garment translates on a variety of body types before we can assess how it might look on us.
Brands - Reformation
What do you think of the brand Reformation? This Esmerelda Dress retails for $248. Worth it? They certainly have the French chic vibe down.
Soft Dramatic Outfit Inspiration and Overview
Let’s talk about what’s working in this outfit inspiration in terms of Soft Dramatic style, balancing our yang dominance (large bones, long vertical line/perception of height) with yin undercurrents (softness, curves, fleshiness):
This Outfit is Soft Dramatic Perfection
Perfection for a Kibbe Soft Dramatic body type:
- wrap-style - asymmetrical - dramatic ruffle flourishes - cinched at the waist - straight (rather than a-line) but not super fitted or overly tailored - knee length (SD’s are typically over 5’5” and many dresses are a tad too short, making our legs appear large because of our larger bones) - bold color
Soft Dramatic Outfit Inspiration and Recommendations
Let’s talk about what’s working in this outfit in terms of Soft Dramatic style.
Style Tip - Feline Eyeliner
I have a love affair with liquid eyeliner. It elongates, defines and lifts the eye. It is femme fatale at its finest and is made for us Soft Dramatics. I switched up my usual black for rich green and plum shades and I’m loving the results.
Style Tip - Bold Prints
Ever since I spent a semester I. Spain I’ve been waiting obsessed with large rose prints on black backgrounds. Turns out it suits my Soft Dramatic style ID well. Large, bold patterns add drama, and the larger bone structure and overall length of SDs don’t get overshadowed by these types of prints.
Style Tip - Monochromatic
Soft Dramatics look particularly stunning in monochromatic outfits because they accentuate our long vertical line. Check out some one-color shopping recommendations.
Soft Dramatic Body Type Clues - Broad Shoulders
One of the defining Kibbe Soft Dramatic body traits I noticed about myself was my broad, straight shoulders. Now that doesn’t sound particularly dainty and feminine, but one of the gifts of learning about style ID, is that I came to see the unique beauty in my shape.
Soft Dramatic Celebrity Example - Monica Bellucci
So what is a Soft Dramatic style ID? According to David Kibbe, SDs are the essence of “Diva Chic.”
Monica Bellucci is an illustrative example, and a celebrity that Kibbe officially typed.
Hi, I’m Laura
Here we’re going to talk about personal style. For decades I’ve explored my creativity through clothing, makeup, hair, accessories. I have four sisters, and we all shared ideas, trends, successes and fails .
My style ID is what Kibbe calls “Soft Dramatic,” so that’s what I’ll focus on in this channel, with a sprinkling of other types as I learn more by helping my friends and sisters explore their IDs.
