I have a love-hate-love relationship with Reformation…
Their garments have that effortless, French-girl chic DOWN. However there is often something fussy going on, like so.much.cleavage, or a thigh slit that is way high. And the fabric needs great so it doesn’t start to fade and chafe.
Reformation dresses transform from casual day-ware with white sneakers, to office wear (like in my video above or photo below) with a sleeker shoe and cleavage-coverage, or a whimsical wedding or baby shower guest. Honestly, these are often the kinds of dresses that I stirs something in men, because they are so sexy without being overt.

But wow, their pieces are pricier than I often anticipated. The Esmerelda Dress above retails for $248. A midi skirt can run you $180 or so. According to the website for this Los Angeles-based brand:
“We make effortless silhouettes that celebrate the feminine figure and pioneer(s) sustainable practices, focusing on people and progress each step of the way.”
Dang it. Its costs more because its made with intention, quality materials and sustainable practices. The ‘ole conundrum. So here’s how I score my Reformation gems:
I have a monthly rental subscription with Rent the Runway, who carries a good selection of Reformation items. Use this link for 30% of your month of rentals.
Occasionally, if the stars align, I’ll find a piece in my size at a consignment store. I’m always on the lookout.
Or… if I am so in love with something I’ll put it on my birthday or Christmas list, or occasionally splurge.
