Hello I’m Laura…

I grew up near the ocean in Massachusetts with four sisters. We didn’t have a lot of money for clothes, so we spent a lot of time in thrift stores putting together outfits without the luxury of brand name styling on in-store models. We had to be creative. And I loved it.

In 2021, I discovered the work of celebrity stylist David Kibbe, who developed a system of understanding body types based on ten categories. Once I learned that I am a Soft Dramatic body type, a light bulb went on and I’ll never be the same. I began to understand why certain styles and looks are magic for me, and why I feel out of my place in others. I came to LOVE my body, got better at shopping, saved time and money, and, most importantly, EMBODIED my personal style. Getting dressed can elevate my mood and reflects how I want to show up in the world as a form of creative expression that honors my being.

Now I live in Vermont, a casual, rugged state, with two children and an amazing husband. I still bring the Soft Dramatic Diva Chic essence to my everyday life. Whether it’s my day job in the office, school pick up, or a night out with the ladies or my husband, I am comfortable and confident in skin. And I want that for you too!

There’s a growing body of information about body types and styling, and I recommend you dive into those. My goal with Embodied Style is to share curated, shoppable content to support you on your style journey. I use tools like Rent the Runway, House of Colour, Poshmark, consignment stores, other style bloggers, and my friends and family to explore what’s out there for Soft Dramatics and share it with you in a couple of clicks.
